Attending classes, writing papers, collaborating in groups, taking tests, giving presentations, socializing with friends… College is a whirlwind of activities, deadlines and the occasional party or two.

It’s no surprise that egg freezing might slip your mind, but we are here to remind you that it is extremely beneficial to freeze your eggs when you are younger and this is possible even while you are in school! According to the American Society Reproductive Medicine, women's peak reproductive years are in their 20's. So why not be a boss babe and take control of your fertility while you are taking care of your degree.

Freezing your eggs while being a young woman in school can take adjustments while going through the busyness of your everyday life. There are many things that you must take into consideration if you make the decision to freeze your eggs.

Step 1 | Learn About the Process

Educate yourself about the process and how it will affect you.

Know about your medical insurance plan and whether or not you may have any conditions that may directly affect the process of egg freezing. Know about the hormones being utilized on your body and how it may affect you (this is a discussion you can have with your medical professional). Seeing a counselor is important for this process and taking as much clinical information as you can.

Step 2 | Plan Egg Freezing Around Your School Breaks

You should plan your egg freezing not just around your schedules but also around your breaks during school.

Summer break would be the most ideal time to allow for a longer length of time allotted for recovery. Your egg freezing doctor may be able to help with this process upon your first initial consultation. You can work with your doctor to manipulate your cycle to fall into a certain window if need be by putting you on birth control pills.

Step 3 |  Inform Your Professors If Necessary

As a precaution to planning and preparing

around any absences during the procedure and recovery, you may want to let your professors know what is to come and provide them with any doctor’s notes if they require them.

Step 4 | Stay Ahead While in Recovery

Let's chat about the recovery process.

Following the procedure, you may not be able to work or attend classes (hello mini vacay!), to keep up with school ask your professor for the work in advance. Remember we have to crush our school goals as well ladies. Lastly, surround yourself with people who can be there for you, who you can rely on to take care of you post egg freezing.

Egg Freezing is definitely doable and manageable for anyone who is informed and prepared. Consult with your doctor and make sure you’re thorough with your options for medication and resources. Lastly, keep your agency informed about your journey through the egg freezing process and if you decide to share your eggs.
